Time has always posed challenges for those who work in the media industry. Such a complex field has a great number of interrelated components – from social change to revolutionary advances in technology.
We suggest taking a look at social processes in a much broader way by studying journalism, media management, directing, editing, the stages of the creative process, and the production cycle of creating a media product – simply put, everything that can be called journalism, media, and communications.

HSE professors in the area of cognitive psychology, artificial intellect, sociology, theory of media (Vadim Radaev, Vasiliy Klyucharev, Aleksey Neznanov, Anna Kachkaeva), producers, directors, curators of multimedia and VR projects (Mikhail Zygar, Antopn Utkin, Olga Shishko etc) and international and Russian leading researchers of transmedia literacy (Carlos Scolari, Julian McDuglas) and media law (Juan Barata, Andrey Richter) will give their lectures.
The main topics of the 2019 conference are:
- Transmedia literacy: the new social-technological image of life and new digital forms of culture
- Media ecology and “critical autonomy”: the way of thinking of “a communicating person” and “limitations of informative accessibility”
- Transmedia production of media content in digital environment: new ethics and aesthetics of formats and practices
- Digital ethics and media law. Freedom and responsibility in digital environment
