HSE University and the business daily Vedomosti (Business News Media JSC) have signed a cooperation agreement within the framework of the Contemporary Journalism Master's programme. Students from the HSE Institute of Media will complete internships in the editorial office of Vedomosti. They will also study ‘Business Journalism Formats’, a course which will help consolidate their knowledge on the genres and formats of modern economic media.
As part of this cooperation, the newspaper staff will also give additional master classes to students and participate in the work of HSE state examination boards.
The Master's Programme in Contemporary Journalism focuses on current concepts of modern media systems, providing students an opportunity to practice their skills in Russian media editorial offices. The programme offers training in one of three tracks: International News Production, Data Journalism, and Business Journalism: News, Comments, Analysis.
‘The key advantage of our institute is that our students can immerse themselves in the work of editorial offices. I think that students of both master's and bachelor's programmes will be able to acquire business journalism skills and might even get job offers. I am sure that this kind of cooperation is the key to a successful partnership between HSE University and Vedomosti. And I do hope that in the future, our students will become not only the creators of Vedomosti business publications, but the subjects of them too.’
‘Business Journalism: News, Comments, Analysis is the practice-oriented track of the Contemporary Journalism programme. Students are immersed in the work of editorial offices, which is the most important part of the training. We are happy to say that Vedomosti is an industrial partner that will help students get involved in media and will immerse them in the editorial process. This is really helpful and important for us.’
Vedomosti has been one of the most authoritative sources of information on business and economics in Russia for over 20 years. Today, Vedomosti encompasses a newspaper, the Vedomosti.ru website, apps, and various IT activities and topical conferences.
