At the end of February, a large-scale event dedicated to the Covid-19 pandemic took place in the building of the National Research University Higher School of Economics on Pokrovsky Boulevard. It was a unique moment that allows us to learn from the current experience.

On February 12, the HSE Media Institute and students welcomed a distinguished guest, Kirill Didenok, a digital producer and the brain behind DNK Music and DIDENOK TEAM communication agency, as well as a member of the academic council of the Media Communications Association.

The Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow, Russia hosted a study tour program from November 16th to 24th, 2023 for international master's enrollees of media-related programs. The tour offered two subjects in English - "Culture, Media and Research" from the Critical Media Studies education program and "Introduction to Alternative Media" from the Contemporary Journalism syllabus (the International News Production track). This allowed students to gain exposure to these topics through both online and in-person lectures and discussions.

On July 8, students of the Bachelor's degree program "Journalism" and Master's degree programs: "Critical Media Studies", "Data Journalism", "Media Management in Mass Media", "International News Production", "Transmedia Production in Digital Industries," and "Film Production in a Multi-Platform Environment" celebrated the successful completion of their studies. On the next day, July 9, the Graduation Ceremony was held for the graduates of the Bachelor's degree program "Media Communications".

Starting this year, the Practice Center of the Media Institute of the National Research University Higher School of Economics offers its students the opportunity to undergo an internship at "Vedomosti" - the largest national publication that publishes news on politics, economics and finance. According to the terms of the agreement, the mandatory planned internship can be completed by 3rd year Bachelor's (summer), 4th year Bachelor's (winter), and 1st year Master's (summer) students, as well as by students of other courses at the Media Institute.

In the autumn of 2023, students of the Media Institute will have the opportunity to create a colour s upplement to one of the most famous business publications in our country as part of a creative workshop curated by the "Vedomosti" newspaper. Such a startup is a unique opportunity for future media industry specialists to go through the full cycle of print media creation, from concept to monetization, while being directly inside the production "kitchen".

In February, the annual Media Institute Winter School came to an end. Applicants could choose from four master's degree programs: "Media Management", "Transmedia Production in Digital Industries", "Critical Media Studies" and "Contemporary Journalism". On successful completion of the Winter School, participants receive a certificate and an additional five points in the portfolio competition for admission to the chosen profile.

On March 9, Oleg Dmitriev, creative director of the "International News Production" track of the "Modern Journalism" Master's Programme, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Media at HSE, the Advisor of the Media Group "Rossiya Segodnya", Candidate of Philological Sciences, conducted a master-class on "The Art of Copywriting: How to Create Popular Texts and Interesting Headlines".

The Media Institute editorial team has launched a creative special project, "Media Institute in Faces," in which students tell the stories of people who have not only made a significant contribution to its development but have also achieved great heights in the media industry.

On February 28, Anastasia Melnikova, heads of the departments "Culture" and "Tourism" of RIA Novosti News Agency, held a master class at the media centre of the Institute of Media. The journalist talked about development trends in these spheres, how to write about tourism in modern realities, and answered questions from the audience.
