Main Christmas Tree in Muzeon will be by a HSE School of Design Lecturer

On December 24, 2014, a labyrinth Christmas tree created by Alexey Ryumin, lecturer at the HSE School of Design, will appear at the main entrance to Muzeon Park, next to the Central House of Artists.

This will be an unusual Christmas tree. Outlined by lighting, it will resemble one of the capital’s main architectural landmarks – Moscow’s Soviet-era skyscrapers. The structure will be a labyrinth.

The author of the object, artist and multimedia designer Alexey Ryumin, explained why, in this artwork, he has moved away from the canonical form: ‘I initially decided that the Christmas tree must be interactive – this is how the idea of a labyrinth came up; and then I wanted to make this structure look more architectural than a classical cone. This way a silhouette resembling Moscow skyscrapers was formed’.
