HSE Student Fashion PaperShow — 2014

On the 24th of December second year fashion students at the School of Design held PaperShow-2014 to display clothes they had created from the most unexpected materials and textures. These textures have been the focus of their studies.

‘The students made mood boards to begin with,’ Maria Smirnov, the groups curator explains, ‘We can see the images from films, art objects and styles which inspired them. They collected colours and materials, and researched possible textures.’

There was paper — crumpled, perforated, folded origami style, plastic spoons and cocktail straws, street art style ‘camouflage’ cut out from multicoloured book covers, pages of glossy magazines cut into strips and turned into thread to sew what was literally a paper jacket. The outfits were not made to last but each one is an art object.
