In the 1980s, it was nearly impossible to find a resident of the former USSR who hadn't heard at least one song from the Italian pop scene. Hits like "Felicità," "L'Italiano," and "Mamma Maria" resonated from cassette players across the country, capturing the hearts of listeners of all ages. Concerts featuring Adriano Celentano, Ricchi e Poveri, and Toto Cutugno were a dream for many.

On November 24th, the HSE Cultural Center held the second Master's Programmes Open Day of the Media Institute this academic year. Potential applicants were introduced to the various programmes and their unique features. Participants also learned about the application and study processes and watched videos showing current students' experiences.

On May 1st, the State Kremlin Palace played host to the grand gala concert of the 6th annual International Road to Yalta Festival. This esteemed event has become a cherished tradition, uniting performers worldwide in homage to the memory of Soviet soldiers who sacrificed their lives for Victory. This year, the festival received 220 applications from artists representing 55 countries, underscoring its global significance and resonance.

On March 11, students enrolled in the Media Management educational program had the opportunity to meet with representatives from Yandex Advertising: Yulia Kudryashova, an event producer, and Yulia Kordinova, the marketing director. The session was overseen by Tatyana Magera, the academic head of the Media Management program.

On March 25, french artist Daniel Emosion conducted a master class titled "The Art of Living" at the Media Institute. Emosion, known for his work as a singer, director, and producer, as well as his expertise in theoretical physics, shared his insights with the students.

On 11 March 2024, Rory Suchet, news anchor of Russia Today, came to the media studio of HSE university on Khitrovskiy Pereulok in the very heart of Moscow to meet and talk with students from the HSE University Institute of Media. The discussion was moderated by Oleg Dmitriev, the deputy head of the HSE University Institute of Media. This event was streamed online and attracted viewers from various countries.

At the end of February, a large-scale event dedicated to the Covid-19 pandemic took place in the building of the National Research University Higher School of Economics on Pokrovsky Boulevard. It was a unique moment that allows us to learn from the current experience.

On February 12, the HSE Media Institute and students welcomed a distinguished guest, Kirill Didenok, a digital producer and the brain behind DNK Music and DIDENOK TEAM communication agency, as well as a member of the academic council of the Media Communications Association.

The Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow, Russia hosted a study tour program from November 16th to 24th, 2023 for international master's enrollees of media-related programs. The tour offered two subjects in English - "Culture, Media and Research" from the Critical Media Studies education program and "Introduction to Alternative Media" from the Contemporary Journalism syllabus (the International News Production track). This allowed students to gain exposure to these topics through both online and in-person lectures and discussions.

October 1 marked the first Open Doors Day of the HSE Media Institute in this school year.  The event highlighted  two educational bachelor programmes that allow students to develop their skills and competencies in journalism, media communications, and other related fields.
