HSE University graduates Victor and Victoria Kravchenko have created an animated blockbuster, ‘The Last Days of Trash’, which recently premiered on the 2x2 TV animation channel. The heroes of the series are three pieces of trash who dream of escaping from the tip.

The students from the Communications, Media and Design faculty had an online meeting with the American photographer Richard Ellis, nominated for the Pulitzer Prize three times.

On March 19, Professor Alexander Kupriyanov, Academic Supervisor of the Bachelor’s Programme in Media Communications, held his first online seminar. HSE News Service participated in the streaming and spoke with the professor about what offline education might look like after the pandemic is over.

On November 19-23, the OPIA Documentary Club will host the Berlin-Gärten Divided City Festival. The first event — a public talk about the events in Berlin in November 1989 — took place on November 7 at the ZIL Cultural Center. Club volunteer Karina Mansurova chose and transcribed the best moments of the conversation.

International participants of the IV International Scientific-practical Conference “Media Education, Media Ecology, Media Literacy: Digital Media for the Future” that was held in HSE on 7-10 February gave lectures to the students of “Mediacommunications” program. They told them about influence of copyright law on the work of platforms, fight against misinformation and media ecology.

Lectures were dedicated to the questions of regulating propaganda in media and novellas of European copyright law on digital media content.

Originally from Greece, Pános Kompatsiáris was attracted to join the Higher School of Economics because of the university’s reputation for exceptional working conditions and fostering career development. Having spent the last ten years in a variety of cities, including Edinburgh and Berlin, Professor Kompatsiáris brings his background in economics, cultural studies and art theory to his current position as Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Communications, Media, and Design at HSE.
