The International Youth Olympiad (IOM-2025), organized by the Higher School of Economics and providing young foreigners with the opportunity to enroll at  a Russian university, for the first time offered future journalists and media industry workers to use generative artificial intelligence (AI) to complete competitive tasks. The experiment showed that participants are coping well with new technologies, but also revealed new challenges in the usage of AI in the field of media.

On October 23, the debut of the theater «ex libris» took place in the assembly hall on Bolshoi Trekhsvyatitelsky Lane.

On March 2, an HSE Open Day for prospective undergraduates and specialist students will take place — one of the largest and most significant events for applicants, their parents, and the entire university. Visitors will have the opportunity to speak with students and representatives of educational programmes, plan their admission process, and immerse themselves in the HSE University atmosphere for a day. The event will be held in Russian.

Artem Protasov, a graduate of the Media Communications program, has been recognized for his innovative use of artificial intelligence in his graduation thesis, securing second place in HSE's specialized AI solutions competition.

In the 1980s, it was nearly impossible to find a resident of the former USSR who hadn't heard at least one song from the Italian pop scene. Hits like "Felicità," "L'Italiano," and "Mamma Maria" resonated from cassette players across the country, capturing the hearts of listeners of all ages. On November 24th, the HSE Cultural Center held the second Master's Programmes Open Day of the Media Institute this academic year. Potential applicants were introduced to the various programmes and their unique features. Participants also learned about the application and study processes and watched videos showing current students' experiences.

The meeting with Dima Ermuzevich was held for applicants and students of the Institute of Media in the HSE Cultural Centre on 24 of October. It was dedicated to blog monetization.

Finishing my bachelor's studies in journalism gave me a lot of satisfaction. I had learned a tremendous amount of information and skills for my professional career, and I also made good friends with colleagues and teachers. These contacts were very important at the moment to find a job. In university, you study a "specific" field, but inside all of that, I got excited about many other things like literature, investigation, philosophy, sociology, history, economics, politics, and many others, at least inside journalism curricula.

Can history exist without humor? Is it possible to learn how to make jokes? Finally, which of the ancient Greek philosophers laid the foundations and principles of storytelling? We talked to Artyom Prokhorov, senior lecturer at the Faculty of Creative Industries Media Institute, candidate of art history, screenwriter and creator of the training courses "Comedy Tools in Storytelling" and "Screenplay Development".
