The presentation of UNESCO's report ‘Global Trends in Freedom of Expression and Mass Media Development’ was held at the Higher School of Economics. It was an opportunity to discuss journalism and the growing gap between traditional regulators and modern consumers of media.

Lydia Cedrone, professor of the New York Film Academy, one of the best universities of filmmaking, came to Moscow to give a lecture to students of High School of Economics. In this event she told the listeners about different techniques of pitching and why pitch is important in filmmaking.

September has begun and in Russia it means that all school children and students must go back to studying. And HSE students have one more important date in the second week of September – the HSE Day.

At the beginning of June HSE School of Media welcomed 14 students from Germany. They came to Moscow thanks to the exchange project between HSE and Cologne School of Political and Economic Journalism and its principal Uric Papedric. Russian students showed Germans mass media offices in Moscow and different places of interest. In autumn, HSE students are going to Germany to get the same experience.

The first book ever written about the public relations industry, ‘Crystallizing Public Opinion’ by Edward Bernays, was translated in Russian with the support of HSE and the Agency of Strategic Communications ‘Nikkolo M’.

This year's HSE Day held at Gorky Park will be remembered not only for the entertainment on display. Despite the rainy weather, students and lecturers found some time for a serious discussion of the  ‘Digital Literacy Index’ – a joint project between the Higher School of Economics and the regional public organization ‘Center for Internet Technologies’.

Olga Voronezhskaya, an undergraduate student in HSE’s School of Design (Faculty of Communications, Media, and Design), has won an award for the work she presented in the FORMA industrial design competition.
