On October 8, 2015, the winner of this year’s Nobel Prize in Literature will be announced. The favourites among bookmakers are the Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami, Belarusian author Svetlana Alexievich, and Kenya’s Ngugi wa Thiong’o. HSE scholars share their opinions on the most likely contenders.
Students on the Integrated Communications Master’s programme won first place at the Case Lab: practical solutions for science communication problems contest. The competition was organised jointly by SPN Communications and the Russian Venture Company RVC as part of the Communications Laboratory project.
HSE Design Lab have created a branding construction kit to modernise design in schools. Even non-specialists can use it to create a trademark style which could help promote their school more successfully. The Lab presented their project at the biggest international education conference in Moscow in September 2015, EdCrunch.

The first book ever written about the public relations industry, ‘Crystallizing Public Opinion’ by Edward Bernays, was translated in Russian with the support of HSE and the Agency of Strategic Communications ‘Nikkolo M’.



This semester Olga Matyash, Adjunct Professor at Ivy Tech State College (Indiana, USA), has been a visiting scholar at HSE, teaching courses on interpersonal communication and public speaking at the HSE School of Integrated Communications (Faculty of Communications, Media and Design). Professor Matyash agreed to speak with the HSE news service to share the secrets of successful public speaking and shed light on the role of communication studies in our life.
