Students at the HSE School of Integrated Communications, Faculty of Communications, Media and Design won all the prizes in a public service advertising competition against corruption. The contest is run by the Moscow City department for competition policy. The HSE students’ posters were selected from 175 pieces submitted from different Russian regions and the near abroad. On November 20-23, the National Communication Association (NCA) organized its 100th conference in Chicago. Sergey Zverev, Oleg Kashirskikh, and Nelli Bachurina, all instructors in HSE’s School of Integrated Communications, presented papers at the conference and took part in a panel discussion as well.

The phenomenon of the cartoon poster is not very widespread in Russia. As a rule, a best-case scenario for the premiere of feature-length animated films is that posters are made from a frame of the movie; for 10-minute films, individual posters simply are not made. The organizers of the Big Cartoon Festival therefore turned for help to Igor Gurovitch, an artist and teacher at the HSE Faculty of Design. For all the years of the festival, Gurovitch has traditionally made branding posters for it.
A group from Brazil’s Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais visited the HSE to participate in a seminar that was part of the ‘Russia-Brazil Major Sport Events: Social Commotion in Global Media’ joint project.
On October 15, well-known contemporary Swiss poster artists gave lectures in HSE’s Faculty of Design building. The lecture marathon took place as part of the Weltformat Swiss posters exhibition, which was organized with HSE’s Faculty of Design.
